The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra’s Winter Symphony Season includes four symphony concerts at Cape Town City Hall.
The season begins on Thursday 8 June with conductor Bernhard Gueller leading the orchestra in Franck’s Le chasseur maudit and Schumann’s Symphony No. 4. Lukáš Vondráček is the soloist in Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 3.
On Thursday 15 June, Gueller returns to lead the orchestra in Lyadov’s Baba Yaga and Rachmaninov’s Symphony No. 1. Philippe Graffin is the soloist in Brahms’s Violin Concerto.
On Thursday 22 June, Gueller leads the orchestra in Gershwin’s An American in Paris, Barber’s Adagio for Strings, and Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story. Liebrecht Vanbeckevoort is the soloist in Gershwin’s Piano Concerto.
On Thursday 29 June, Gueller concludes the season with John Simon’s “Seeing Stars” and Franck’s Symphony in D Minor. Luis Magalhães is the soloist in Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3.
